The problem of unemployment among youth in Kenya and the perception that their problems go largely ignored has fueled feelings of alienation, led to frustration and tragically in many cases, led to conflict and violence.
Poverty and unemployment are fundamental issues related to crime and violence in our communities with unemployed youth being disproportionately more likely to be perpetrators, as well as victims of crime and violence. The solution is to get our youth to work.
Our national goal as articulated in the Vision 2030 are not achievable unless drastic measures are taken to reverse the prevailing patterns of unemployment particularly among the youth.
The strategy for putting one million youth to work will entail an intensive campaign to bring NGOs, Faith Based organizations, CBOs and other strong grassroots organizations to mobilize youth and help identify employment and enterprise opportunities and then help get professional help through the Zungua platform.
